The Ridge at Olomana Heights

Kailua, HI

Situated in the foothills of the Ko’olau mountains on the windward side of Oahu sits that last undeveloped section of the Olomana Heights neighborhood.

The first phase of the Olomana Heights project consists of 19, multi-acre lots that have been sold to individual buyers. Some of these buyers are working to fulfill the original vision of the project, which is to create an upscale community of residents with a desire to utilize the agricultural land productively and sustainably. The remaining four parcels are in the process of being approved as an Agricultural Cluster project. This new plan combines the residential dwellings into a small section on the 16 acres, leaving the remaining area available for agricultural production, renewable energy generation, and conservation.

Clustering the dwellings together leaves a large tract of land available on which a variety of agricultural products can be grown to further improve Oahu’s food security. The homes will be energy-independent - in fact, the neighborhood will be its own microgrid. The site will focus on solar and wind for energy production and hydrogen production, and battery and hydro for energy storage. The community will support both electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) with charging and refueling stations onsite.
